Brad Solberg recently purchased the Baldwin Agency from Bruce and Barb Jacobs. The same personalized service will continue, and Solberg is opening up more options to his clients, including health insurance for individuals and groups as well as Medicare. “We will also offer life, disability and long-term care insurance,” he said. “We want to be able to cover every insurance need.”

Dark Enga and Lani Vincent recently moved to Frazee and with them brought specialized veterinarian knowledge. Enga, who has been a practicing veterinarian 23 years, owns an endoscope system and is well-versed with the state of the art equipment. He explained the scope allows him to determine what the animal ingested, and when the item is small enough he can also remove it. Enga also offers rigid scoping services, which helps identify nasal issues or a reason for chronic sneezing.

The serious duck hunter has to have a few things up his proverbial sleeve in order to come home with a limit of ducks for the table. One of those things is a proper working decoy. There are many types and styles of working decoys out there; black corn, brown cork, foam, cedar and plastic. The material used to make a decoy is important and it is the case that a decoy that is made well is one that is going to stand the hunting tests of time, water and transport.

Daggett added that the building will cost about $450,000 and $250,000 of the sum remains to be raised.

Monday, the Frazee School Board approved the exploration of refinancing its bonded debt at a lower rate, which could potentially save district taxpayers up to a quarter-million dollars, according to Supt. Joe Merseth. The refinancing would be done by refunding some or all of the school’s construction bonds, so the school district would be paying less interest said Business Manager Ted Heisserer.

It’s strictly a coincidence that an exploratory meeting aimed at the formation of a Spirit Lakes association is scheduled for Halloween, said Merilyn Fischer. Merilyn, her husband Floyd, and Betty Sayers and planning an initial meeting for 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Loon’s Nest in Vergas. It will be a Spirit Lakes association because there are two Spirit Lakes—East Spirit and West Spirit. East Spirit Lake is about 600 acres and West Spirit Lake is between 50 and 200 acres.

Frazee’s Hornets emerged as 1973 Heart O’Lakes Conference football champions Friday night as a result of their 8-0 loss at the hands of Elbow Lake. Coach Frank Hesby’s Hornets finished the season with a 6-1 HOL record and a 7-2 overall record. Frazee last won the HOL league crown in 1970, the same year that quarterback Merlin Kansas became Frazee’s first all-state football player.
