Hunting partner’s gun goes off, wounds man in the leg

0A Minneapolis man suffered a wound from an accidental gunshot on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Forest Township, according to a press release from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.
Sunday, at approximately 11:33 a.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a 40-year-old male, Jeremy Nicholos Sailor, of Minneapolis, who had reportedly suffered an accidental gunshot wound to the hip in a rural wooded portion of Forest Township.
Forest Township is located east of Bad Medicine Lake in Becker County.
Sailor’s hunting partner was reportedly attempting to check to make sure his firearm was unloaded when it went off, striking Sailor in the leg.
Sailor was transported by private vehicle part way from the scene, but the private vehicle he was being transported in broke down.
The vehicle and occupants were located by first responders and Sailor was transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji for non-life threatening injuries.
Sailor’s current condition is not known at this time.
The incident appears to be an accidental shooting and is no longer under investigation.
Emergency personnel from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, White Earth Tribal Police Department, White Earth Conservation, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, North Memorial Ambulance, and Carsonville Rescue all responded to the scene.
