0Norma Jean Moe, 83, of Frazee, MN, passed away on December 15, 2023, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN, surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Norma Jean McAllister was born at home on December 20, 1939, to George and Florence (Neubauer) McAllister, in Richville, MN. Norma was the middle child of seven. She attended country school until eighth grade. Norma Jean then went to school at Perham High School, where she graduated in 1958.
On September 30, 1958, Norma Jean married the love of her life, Maynard Moe. Together they made their home in Frazee and had five children. Norma Jean worked at the Swift Turkey Plant in Frazee until the plant closed, then she continued to work at their Detroit Lakes, MN, location, working for the company for over 20 years. Later, she went to work in the Dietary Department at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Norma Jean was a great baker and cook who was known for her three-bean hot dish, meatballs and her potato salad. She was a member of the VFW Axillary in Perham, MN. Some of her favorite activities were playing Bingo, Yahtzee, and card games with her grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norma Jean cherished the time she could spend with them and her the rest of her family and friends.
Norma Jean is survived by her five children, Shirley (Robert) Reinowski, Steve, James (Pam), Cliff (Cathy), and Karen (Tom) Stocker; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe McAllister and Jerome (Pauline) McAllister; sisters-in-law, Jackie McAllister, Mary Bennett, Jane Moe, Betty (George) Bertram, and Linda Moe; brother-in-law, Lawrence Weinrich; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; parents, George and Florence; granddaughter, Ashley Moe; siblings, Helen (Leonard) Rastedt, George McAllister Jr., Lorraine (Larry) Urvand, and James McAllister; brothers-in-law, Marvin Moe, Myron (Lynn) Moe, Merlyn Moe, and Arnold Bennett; sisters-in-law, Janet (Earl) Scott and Donna McAllister.
Norma Jean’s Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 1 PM, with a visitation one hour prior, in the Vergas United Methodist Church, Vergas, MN. Burial will be in Vergas City Cemetery, Vergas.
