Hornets fall to Nuggets 78-67 in HOL action

In a game that was much closer than the final score may appear, the Frazee Hornets fell to the Hawley Nuggets by a score of 78-67 on Tuesday night. The Hornets led early in the first half and again took the lead midway through the second half, before the Nuggets pulled away for good late in the second half of the game. The Hornets trailed by a score of 37-32 at halftime.
Both teams found quite a bit of success from the floor as the Hornets shot 43 percent, while the Nuggets shot just under 51 percent. The big difference came from both the free throw and 3-point line where the Nuggets held a big advantage. Hawley went 11-26 from behind the 3-point line, compared to 5-17 for the Hornets, while Hawley went 13-16 from the free throw line, while Frazee went 6-9.
Frazee also held a big advantage in offensive rebounds as they pulled down 13 offensive rebounds, compared to 3 for Hawley. Those rebounds led to a 16-4 Frazee advantage in second chance points. Frazee outrebounded the Nuggets by a 38-25 advantage.
Asher Blaine led the way offensively with 21 points, while Adam Vigen scored 18 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Carter Sonnenberg finished with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss drops the Hornets to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
