The Detroit Lakes gymnastics team came up just short of its bid for a third straight section championship as the Lakers came up just .725 points shy of Melrose for the section title. Melrose finished in first place with a team score of 142.3.

Despite coming up just short of advancing to state as a team, the Lakers will be well-represented at the state tournament on Saturday as part of the individual competition. Addyson Laux took second place in the all-around with a score of 9.225, while Elsie Ratz fourth place in the all-around.

Ratz, who attends Frazee-Vergas High School, advanced to state in both the bars and vault.

State gymnastics will be held on Friday and Saturday at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in the Twin Cities.
