0The Frazee boys golf team participated in two meets last week.
The first meet was in Walker at the Tianna Country Club. Only one person on the team had ever played the course so it was a fun new experience. The team did very well for the day placing fifth out of 12 teams only two strokes out of fourth place. The Hornets only took four guys to this meet and they responded to the added pressure.
Cayden Wallin was playing Frazee’s number one spot and shot a 92. He had some really nice holes, in fact birdie one of Minnesota’s prettiest par threes. A few holes made his score go higher than he would have liked.
Ben Reierson played the two spot and had a solid round shooting 85. He ended in the 12th spot individually for the day.
Danny Winn was playing the three spot and shot a competitive 98. His middle irons gave him some trouble and on that course people need to be precise with those.
Rounding out the team was Tyler Lindell. He shot a nice score for him with a 95.
“It was fun to see our guys compete against some single A competition and do well. Only one single A team beat us on the day which is encouraging going forward,” said head coach Jason Reierson.
The other meet for the week was in Breckinridge. The Bois de Sioux course can be a bear under good circumstances, but add in 20 to 30 mile an hour gusts and it makes it even tougher.
“I was very proud of the guys that went because I did not hear one complaint about the wind and they just beared down and played,” said Reierson.
Caydin Wallin shot 89, which was good enough for the 15th spot for the day and Ben Reierson shot 90, which was good enough for 18th position. Both guys left strokes on the course, but hit the ball well. They had to grind a bit to keep in contention and that will serve them well in upcoming meets.
Tyler Lindell shot 104 followed by Tanyen Moore with 115, Gavin Pope with 135 and Wyatt Alger shooting 147.
Overall, Reierson said it was a solid week for the boys golf team.
