Frazee received the eighth seed in the Section 8AA girls basketball tournament. The Hornets hosted Wadena-Deer Creek in the opening round of the tournament on Monday night. The results of the game were not available at the time of press, but the winner will advance to Section 8AA South quarterfinals on Wednesday night against top seeded Fergus Falls. 

The sub section tournament will continue on Friday night against either fourth seeded Menahga and fifth seeded Barnesville. 

On the other side of the sub section, second seeded Pelican Rapids will host seventh seeded Staples-Motley and third seeded Perham will host sixth seeded Breckenridge. 

The Hornets will enter the sub section tournament with a record of 2-13 overall and finished 0-12 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference. Frazee defeated Wadena-Deer Creek, who enters the post season with a record of 8-01 overall, by a score of 53-48 on Feb. 9. 

Frazee averages 37.4 points per game on offense, while giving up 59.4 points per game on defense. WDC, on the other hand, averages 41.9 points per game on offense and is giving up an average of 45.8 points per game on defense. 

Friday

In its final game of the regular season, Frazee fell to Barnesville by a score of 52-43 on Friday night. 

Frazee got off to a quick start and took a lead until the midpoint of the first half when Barnesville went on a late run. A few late shots in the first half pushed the Trojans lead to 23-15 at the half. In the second half both teams played point-for-point as the Hornets went on an early run to keep the Trojan lead at single digits for much of the second half.

Unfortunately, Barnesville was able to make the most of their opportunities in the paint as they held a 28-6 advantage and held a 13-4 margin in offensive rebounds.

As a team, the Hornets shot 36.6 percent from the field and hit an impressive 9-21 from behind the 3-point line. Frazee also forced 17 Barnesville turnovers and had 11 assists on 17 made shots from the field.

Annika Reierson had a big night from the field as she went 5-9 from behind the 3-point line to finish with 21 points. She also had 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Madison Starry also reached double-figures with 12 points and 5 deflections on the defensive end.
