This week the Hornets hosted Pelican Rapids on Monday, before having the rest of the week off to prepare for next week’s sub section tournament.

An Aaron Aho bases loaded two-run double in the top of the fourth inning broke a scoreless tie and was just enough as the Frazee Hornets defeated Park Rapids by a score of 3-0 on Monday night. The Hornets added another run in the top of the fifth inning on a fielder’s choice and kept the Panthers off the scoreboard to pick up the non-conference win.
Cael Pausch picked up the win on the mound as he pitched five scoreless innings and gave up just five hits. Karson Krause pitched the final two innings of the game and gave up no hits and walked just one batter.

The Frazee Hornets dropped a pair of close Heart O’ Lakes Conference games on the road on Tuesday night to Breckenridge by scores of 5-3 and 14-9.
In the opening game of the night, Asher Blaine gave the Hornets an early 1-0 lead when he connected with an RBI single that brought Cael Pausch across the plate. Derek Zitzow made the score 2-0 in favor of Frazee in the top of the third inning when he hit an RBI single with two outs to bring Drew Mekalson across the plate.
Breckenridge scored single runs in both the third and fourth innings to tie the game at 2-2, before the Hornets once again came up with a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning when Karson Krause hit a two out single to bring Blaine across the plate and make the score 3-2 in favor of the Hornets.
Unfortunately, the Cowboys took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored a pair of runs and added another run in the sixth inning to make the score 5-3 in favor of Breckenridge.
Zitzow took the loss on the mound as he went six innings and gave up nine hits and just three earned runs.
In the second game of the night, Frazee came up on the short end of a 14-9 loss to Breckenridge. The Hornets were able to stay in the game due to nine Breckenridge errors, as well as a big five run bottom of the fifth inning which brought them within one run at 10-9.
The Cowboys would go on to score four runs in the top of the sixth inning to come away with the win.
In Frazee’s big bottom of the fifth inning, Blaine led off the inning with a double, before he scored on an error when Zitzow reached base on a single. Chandler Ullrich followed with another single and an error on the play allowed Zitzow to score to make the game 10-6 in favor of Breckenridge. With two outs, a pair of Frazee runners scored when Adam Vigen reached base safely on an error and the final run of the inning came on an RBI single by Pausch to make the score 10-9 in favor of Breckenridge.
As a team the Hornets finished with 12 hits, including two by Pausch, Ullrich, Logan Brekke and Adam Vigen.
Mekalson took the loss on the mound as he went 3 1/3 innings and gave up seven hits and five earned runs. Brekke pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up three hits and three earned runs.
