Allen Arvig, President and CEO of Arvig, has received the Leaders & Legacies award from Prairie Business magazine.  

Arvig is one of eight business leaders honored in the July issue of the magazine for their career accomplishments and contributions to their companies, industries and communities. 

The Leaders & Legacies award recognizes top executives throughout the upper Midwest who have used their high-level leadership roles to make a positive impact on people’s lives and livelihoods.

Under the leadership of Allen Arvig, the son of founders Royale and Eleanor Arvig, the company has grown into a premier internet service provider in Minnesota and one of the nation’s largest privately owned telecommunications providers, with more than 900 employees and a 9,000-square-mile service area.

In the course of his 70-year career, Arvig has been at the forefront of some of the most significant evolutions in the telecommunications industry, from copper wire telephones, to cable television to high-speed internet. 

“This award is a proud moment in my dad’s remarkable career,” said David Arvig, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Arvig. “His dedication has had a profound impact on our company, and it’s inspiring to see that passion still in his leadership today.”

Allen and his wife, Carmen, Arvig’s Director of Employee Services, live in Perham. They have five children, all of whom are involved in the company’s operations: David; Dennis Arvig, programmer analyst in the Enterprise IT Department; Michele Arvig-Biederman, perception and experience professional in the marketing department; Jay Arvig, fleet director; and Ashley Arvig, vice president and COO of Arvig Answering Solutions.

“I’d like to thank my wife, Carmen, for her unwavering support through the years,” Allen said.
