Former Frazee-Vergas Elementary Art Instructor Linda Beilke is one of three women showcasing their work at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center’s new gallery exhibit: “Women Create,” in the Gallery from September 11 through October 12.
This show features the art of Beilke from Frazee, Linda Sheryak and Donna Chalimonczyk from Moorhead.
These three women are all members of the Cormorant Art League and each have their own unique style and interpretation of the world around them.
Beilke works 2-dimensionally in watercolor, acrylic, ink, graphite, and mixed media, from realism to non-objective imagery. Beilke’s style of allowing the ink or graphite drawing to be visible as the foundation of her art has become her distinctive look.
Sheryak said she has always been an artist, creating drawings from a young age. She later started painting with acrylics and helped paint backdrops for high school plays for many years. Currently, along with painting, Sheryak also creates jewelry and small sculptures.
Chalimonczyk paints both with watercolors and acrylics.
“The wonderful part about painting is watching a painting emerge from the paint and water dropped on paper. It is truly an exciting experience,” she said.
Her paintings vary in style and subjects, from realistic to abstract.
The paintings and sculptures in “Women Create” will be for sale.
A reception will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 1-3 p.m. The artists will be on hand to meet and greet visitors and discuss their work. An artists’ talk is scheduled for 2 p.m. The reception is free to attend and open to all. Refreshments will be available.
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center Gallery is always free to see and open to the public. Gallery Hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
