The Frazee Fly Girls had their last regular season competition on Friday, Jan. 24.

In addition to the Hawley Invite, this was also a make up of Heart of the Lakes Conference Championships that were cancelled from the week prior due to weather conditions. This competition was also the Junior Varsity Jazz team’s last competition of the season. They placed fifth out of nine teams.

This team is very young—made up of seventh, eighth and ninth graders. They truly shined on the floor every week while dancing. Head coach Hailey Brower said she can’t wait to see how they continue to grow in the seasons to come.

The Varsity Jazz team finished in fourth place behind Bagley in third, Hawley in second and Crosby-Ironton in first. The team improved scores in seven out of 10 categories, while maintaining the same score from the week prior. Highest category scores came in visual effectiveness, difficulty in skills, and placement and control.

The team is working hard and motivated to earn a top three finish at sections next weekend to advance to state.

The Varsity Kick team finished in fifth place behind DGF in fourth, Bagley in third, Hawley in second and Crosby-Ironton in first place.

The team had highest scores of 30 in categories of difficulty of kicks and placement and control. This team continues to get sharper and have a cleaner routine each week. They have grown in their performance by showing more facial expressions and having fun while performing on the floor. This team is working hard to also earn a Top 3 finish at sections next week to advance to the state tournament.

Heart of the Lakes Conference Championships Awards were as follows:

• Fourth Overall out of nine teams – Crosby in first, Hawley in second, Bagley in third

• All Conference Dancers: Grace Doll, Alydia Mitchell, and Nevaeh Wirth

• All Conference Honorable Mentions: Cassie Puttbrese and Jordan Nelson

The Fly Girls Dance Team is looking forward to a strong week of practice leading up to sections on Saturday.

Sections will be held at Hawley High School with Jazz starting at 12 p.m. and High Kick starting at approximately 1:30 p.m. Awards will be held at approximately 3 p.m.
