The Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a cell phone detected crash at the intersection of Co. Rd. 151 and 460th Ave., in Toad Lake Township at 4:54 a.m., in Toad Lake Township Friday, Feb. 7.

A deputy arrived on scene at six minutes later at 5 a.m., and located a single vehicle that had crashed into the trees at that intersection.

A male driver, who was the sole occupant, was located inside the vehicle with what appeared to be extensive injuries. 

The deputy performed life saving measures until additional first responders arrived on scene. The driver was identified as Kelly William Paurus, age 40, of Menahga. Paurus was flown to a Fargo Hospital for further treatment where his condition remains unknown.

Wolf Lake Fire, Wolf Lake Rescue, North Memorial, Life Link, and J&D Towing assisted the Sheriff’s Office. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
