To the Editor,

The Minnesota State Legislature has been tasked with making budget cuts across industries. Critical pieces of legislation which will impact disability service providers throughout Minnesota are being considered. As we make tough budget decisions, we must prioritize services that support people with disabilities.

I have worked with individuals with disabilities for the past 20 years. The work that direct care professionals do is hard yet rewarding. Many people who work in this field do not do it for the pay, but let’s face it. It costs a lot of money to survive in this economy. The individuals who need our services deserve to have staff that are competent and can stay long term with them.

Sincerely,

Meggan Page,
