Former Mayor Julie Bruhn and Vergas Arts Club President Carol Albright hosted their annual Vergas Kids Art Camp at Lion’s Park Saturday, June 14. Kids from around the region, the tri-state area and as far away as Casper, Wyoming and Gilberg, Arizona come together with paint and a surprise canvas every year to help beautify downtown Vergas. Each year’s project has a theme with kids decorating a specific piece of art. This year it is a maple leaf. Past artwork depicted fish, totem poles, loons, birdhouses and butterflies. The event attracted 113 children and their art pieces will be installed downtown after the liquor store construction is completed. The art is shared with the public for the length of the summer.
