Phelps Mill Festival to feature music, food and arts from July 12-13

The annual Phelps Mill Festival will be held from July 12-13 at Phelps Mill County Park. The festival features a mixture of food, arts and crafts for sale, family activities and live entertainment.
Come join us at the 41st annual Phelps Mill Festival. The 41st annual Phelps Mill Festival is set for July 12-13 at Phelps Mill Park in rural Underwood. The festival is held each year during the second weekend of July.
Phelps Mill Festivl provides two full days of art, food, entertainment and kids’ activities, plus craft wine and beer tasting. Those who attend the annual celebration can fill their day with kids’ activities and art projects; listening to top-notch entertainment, shopping at a wide variety of artist booths; sampling craft beer and wine and eating at any number of food booths.
The festival features fine artists and crafters from around the country. Each exhibitor is handpicked by a panel of jurors to ensure quality and originality for the show. From paintings and prints to jewelry and apparel, to furniture and pottery, everyone will find something special to take home with them. There’s still a lot going on for those who aren’t as interested in shopping.
Kids’ free art activities will be led by Art of the Lakes artists each day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn how to paint on canvas led by Art of the Lakes artists, along with a spin art activity. There will also be a Crayon Cart led by artist Kathrine McDowell. She will provide an activity using recycled crayons that will be molded into new usable art supplies. The art projects are compliments of a grant received from the Lake Region Art Council.
Brad Weston’s Comic Stunt show will take to the main stage on Saturday at 12 p.m. Also appearing on the main stage on Saturday at 1 p.m., enjoy the music of Chase Burkhardt, solo artist, followed by the ’57 Chevy band at 2 p.m. and ending with music from Nathaniel Fronning at 4:15 p.m.
Sunday’s Community Service and music will be at 10:30 a.m., led by Reverend Salim Kaderbhai from Fergus Falls Zion Lutheran Church. Organizers are more than excited to showcase their first “Phelps Mill Sing-Off” featuring solo artists from the area competing for a $1,000 first prize. Organizers will announce the final contestants on our website and on social media when the festival gets closer to the event.
While at the festival, enjoy a tour of the historic mill led by the Otter Tail County Historical Society, both days.
The festival will again host craft beer and wine vendors from the area. This tasting event will run from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday. Come sample some of the finest beer and wine in the area and enjoy music by Darren Quam. The fee for the tasting event includes a commemorative glass.
And don’t forget about the food. Phelps Mill Festival has several food vendors; pancakes, brats, burgers, pork chops, baked potatoes, walking tacos and root beer floats, just to name a few. Organizers will again be offering iced coffee and lattes. Our food vendors are all local non-profit groups working towards fundraising and making a variety of delicious eats for everyone to enjoy.
The festival will offer free parking and shuttle service, along with handicapped parking close to the festival grounds. The entrance fee is $8 for adults, with 12 and under free. Phelps Mill Festival is a nonprofit organization, and funds go to pay for the event expenses.
