The annual Looney Days parade will roll through town on Sunday afternoon. The parade will get underway at 2 p.m.

Things will get a little looney this weekend in Vergas as the community gears up for the 62nd annual Looney Days celebration. The event kicks off on Wednesday with the Vergas Baseball Hall of Fame dedication, before the old-timers softball game gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Both events will be held at the baseball field.
Thursday features a variety of activities including the pickleball tournament beginning at 1 p.m. and the return of the Miss Vergas, Princess Altona, as well as the Little Miss and Mr. pageant. The event has changed a bit this year and will be held on Thursday night at the Vergas Event Center beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday will come to a close with the Vergas Got Talent contest at Loonies Pub beginning at 7 p.m.
Looney Days will brighten the sidewalks in Vergas on Friday with sidewalk chalk art from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of Natalie’s Serendipity, while the kid’s fishing fun will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Loon Park. Gordon’s Dairy Museum will be open for tours from 11 a.m. t 2 p.m. and the Long Lake Boat Parade will get underway at 6 p.m. at Loon Park.
Friday will come to close with Anthony Shore and his Elvis Tribute concert at Loon Park from 7-9:30 p.m.
Saturday’s line up will be chock full of activities with the 5k run/walk beginning at 8 a.m., before the Lions Club will serve breakfast sandwiches at the Vergas Event Center from 8-11 a.m.
The highlight of the day will be the annual wiener dog races that will get underway at 9 a.m. at the ball field, before inflatable games begin at 10 a.m. and the family games begin at 9:30 a.m.
Other events throughout the day include a Vergas Fire and Rescue Open House, live music at Wildlife Furs, horse wagon rides, road rally, loon calling contest at 1:30 p.m., puppy plunge at 3 p.m. and bean bag tournament.
The water ski show will be held from 5-6 p.m. at Loon Park and a street dance featuring the band October Road will be held at Railway Ave.
Sunday’s lineup features the classic car show at 9 a.m., yoga at 9:30 a.m. at True Blue Flowers, live music and the grand parade which gets underway at 2 p.m.
The downtown Vergas area will get a quick bath following the parade with the annual water fights, while tip bingo, music under the tent and TIP raffle drawing will bring the weekend to a close at 7 p.m.
