Notes from the Chief
Well apparently, I may have offended some of my fans last week. That was the talk around town Friday morning as I heard from a little birdie. Was it the “hoofacure” remark or did someone really like dip sized Fritos? I myself received five really nice comments and one treat/prize from a former teacher. The prize was for getting a perfect on a science quiz in sixth grade and the treat was for my wonderful articles in the paper. It just goes to show that cops are danged if they do and danged if they don’t. I suppose I could just write an article so dry that it would spontaneously combust if you set it out in the sun.
Calving is moving right along with 73 percent (55 out of 75) of the cows calving in the first cycle (three weeks). NDSU research shows that achieving 60 percent in the first three weeks is a goal to reach for so it looks like we are doing something right. As of last Friday morning, we are up to 62 cows that have come in. I have plenty of stories to tell about the farm in the weeks to come. Hopefully I won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
