Notes from the Chief 

I took a couple days off this last stretch, getting nine days off in a row. We got the hay baled up that we had down and now we are waiting for more rain and praying we will get a crop.  I got quite a few projects done on the farm with my mini vacation.  

New air conditioner compressor, switch and dryer installed on one hay cutter.  We tried to get some freon into the machine and I figured I may have had things hooked up backwards. I performed the ol’ switcheroo and then the blower motor gave out so we need to order one of those.  One auger threw a bearing for loading corn into the mixer so that was replaced and fabricated to work almost like new.  

A load of corn distillers arrived to keep the 40 Holstein steers happy. We are taking them up to 1450 lbs is the goal as we have always sold them around 900-1000 pounds.  

The round bales in the field were hauled home with only 2 flat tires and they were replaced. Two hay rakes had flat tires and those were replaced as well.  New tires for the boys pickup gave the tire changer quite a workout. The hay is so short and dry that the hay cutter was plugging up so new sickles were installed and it worked much better. With the dry conditions it works better to bale the hay when it is still a bit damp or wait ‘til the dew has settled and then the baler should work better.  I went home at 1 a.m. on Friday morning and baled hay for a couple hours and did not have the issues like I had with the super dry hay.  

We also sold the three cows that lost their calves as well as the bull that did not pass his second Bull Soundness Exam of the Spring. They should all be hamburger by the time you read this.  

We did pick up a yearling bull to replace number 31 and he the new one, number 62 is making friends with 13 beautiful yearling heifers.

Dad also planted some cover crops into the corn this week and we will see how that program works.   With the lack of a hay crop, hopefully we can get some extra grazing this fall after we take the corn off.

8:57 p.m. Disturbance on 2nd St SE.  Michael Bacon, 46, Frazee arrested for domestic assault.

12:51 a.m. Assist with a motorcycle vs 4-wheeler crash on 130th St.

Saturday, June 12

4:01 p.m. Assist with a medical.

9:21 p.m. Assist with an intoxicated male at Eagle Lake Park who was beating on his own pickup. Male and his kayak were given a ride home.

11:46 p.m. Traffic stop with citation for speed issued to Michael Fletcher, 25, Frazee.

Sunday, June 13

11:10 p.m. Assist with a traffic stop in DL.

Monday, June 14

11:44 a.m. Report of a loose dog.  Officer tied dog up at house where it belonged.

3:35 p.m. 911 hang-up.  Officer check the area and nothing out of the ordinary.

4:15 p.m. Juvenile punks causing issues at the beach, harassing beach attendant and jumping off fishing pier.  One meatball was sent home for the day after an officer talked with him and he decided it was a good idea to run out and do a flip off the fishing pier.  He was warned that two more strikes would ban him for the summer.

10:28 p.m. Traffic stop with citation for Driving After Revocation issued to James Bettin, 39, Menagha.

Tuesday, June 15

7:28 a.m. Disturbance on W Elm Ave.  Male and female not getting along.

8:11 a.m. Welfare check on E Main. Officer did not make contact with anyone.

5:12 p.m. Assist probation with a picking up person who was positive for alcohol.

7:08 p.m. Male and female from earlier call not getting along again. Male was served an OFP and was allowed to get personal items and left.

11:15 p.m. Report of dogs barking on E. Oak Ave.  Officer did not hear any dogs when he was in the area.

Wednesday, June 16

9:03 a.m. Traffic stop with citation for Driving After Revocation issued to Douglas Collins Jr., 31, Frazee.

3:51 p.m. Traffic stop with citation for Driving After Suspension issued to Amy Lebus, 34, Frazee. 5:49 p.m. Assist with a fire on Co Hwy 29.
