Moore takes fifth at state track meet

Frazee junior Rylee Moore took fifth place in the triple jump at last Friday’s state track meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School. Moore jumped 5’2” to tie with Adrienne Foell of Spectrum School to take fifth place.
The champion was Nyalaam Jok of Annandale who broke the state record by jumping 6’0”. The longest Class A record was set by Jok in 2018 at 5’9” and Brianna Polus in 2005. Jok also broke the all-time state record of 5’10” that was set in 1986 and matched in 2019.
Toryn Richards, of WEM, took second place with a jump of 5’3”, Ashley Kimman, Pierz, took third place with a jump of 5’3” and Annaka Forsberg, of Blooming Prairie, took fourth place with a jump of 5’3”.
Jok and Richards are both seniors, while Kimman is a sophomore and Forsberg is just a freshman.
Moore also took seventh place in the triple jump as she jumped 35’4 ¼”.
Maggie Larson, of Maple Lake, won the event with a jump of 40’10 ½”. Moore was just 2 inches out of sixth place and just 8 inches behind Elianna Aberra of Spectrum School for fifth place at state.
Moore is just a junior for the Frazee track team.
