Notes from the Chief

Hog hunting on the weekends, huh? What do they say, when the cat is away the mice will play? Very well played on the part of Officer Seeger, well played.With that, the boy and I had a successful wild hog hunt in Southeast Texas. I would be happy to share the stories if I see you out and about.  The only complaint I really have about the trip was the 88-degree weather. Gross!

We are just winding up our grazing season on the farm as the cows and calves are still on the hayfields/pasture. This is significant as we did not put up as much hay as we normally do, due to the drought this past summer.  The longer we can keep them on pasture the longer our hay supply will last. We brought the last 10 pairs home last Monday so there should be 70 cow-calf pairs and four bulls at the farm. The cows will be preggo checked very soon, the calves will be weaned from the cows and we will start to feed the calves a backgrounding ration.  

Friday, Oct. 29

8:53 a.m. Assist with a traffic complaint on U.S. Hwy 10.

9:57 a.m. Report of juvenile high school students sending nude photos. Officer talked to kids with parents about the dangers of sending and receiving photographs while underage.

1:23 p.m. Male wanting to report his vehicle stolen.  Civil issue as ex-girlfriend has the car and paid for the vehicle, but still owes boyfriend some money. Officer gave advice on how male could proceed civilly.

1:54 p.m. Vehicle unlock.

6:41 p.m. Assist with a pursuit in the DL area.

Saturday, Oct. 30

10:05 a.m. Report that a green 8-foot folding ladder was left at the recycling center and was gone when party went back to get it.  Please return to the PD if you found the ladder.

11:52 p.m. Noise complaint on W. Main.  Officer did not hear anything overly loud when in the area.

Saturday, Oct. 31

3:56 p.m. Assist with Halloween parade in town.

Monday, Nov. 1

8:04 a.m. Report of a male sitting/sleeping in his pickup behind the high school and has been there since 5 am.  Officer talked with male who was behind the school to use the Wi-Fi.  Male party was revoked so he had to use the leather express to walk home.

3:53 p.m. Assist with a medical.

8:04 p.m. Traffic stop with citation for No MN driver license issued to Jodi Langlie, 37, Detroit Lakes.

8:52 p.m. Assist with a suspicious vehicle on 360th Ave.  Vehicle was towed from the area as no one was around to lay claim to the property.

Tuesday, Nov. 2

9:40 a.m. Report that no one was at local store when they are supposed to be open at 8 a.m. This has been an issue in the past due to staffing shortages.

10:47 a.m. Traffic complaint that male would not put child in car seat as male did not have a car seat. Officer arrived and common sense prevailed as a car seat was brought for the male to use.

1:07 p.m. Report of a court order violation in town. Alfonso Macias-Pulido was arrested in DL for violation of the no contact order.

3:21 p.m. Assist human services with removal of child from home.

11:12 p.m. Assist with a medical.

1:01 a.m. Both sets of crossing arms down and not functioning properly. BNSF contacted.

Wednesday, Nov. 3

7:49 a.m. Vehicle on fire on E Main.  Fire was out before fire dept. arrived.

11:45 a.m. Report of a possible missing child.  Child returned home shortly after.

Thursday, Nov. 4

3:29 p.m. Assist with a motor vehicle crash on Co. Hwy 10.

4:18 p.m. Assist human services with removal of seven children.

10:22 p.m. Complaint via social media of a bus parked in the yellow in front of the high school.  

10:55 p.m. Suspicious vehicle hanging around during closing time at store.  Officer made sure clerk made it home safely.
