Election Day on Nov. 8 was quite eventful, what started out as a possible shortage of ballots and the need to make some ballot copies was interrupted by a power outage. The polling location at the Frazee Event Center was pitch black, lit only by a few cell phone and flashlights. Within minutes of the power going out Frazee Police Chief Tyler Trieglaff was on site to offer help. An unusual request was put out to the Frazee Fire Department—to get generators to the event center. Generators were hooked up by using the fire trucks, ballot copies were made and the voting continued. The power came back on after about 40 minutes. The polls closed at 8 p.m. and it was estimated that more than 1,400 ballots were cast, and of those, 115 were from newly-registered voters.
The Vergas Trail Committee continues to plug away at bringing a floating boardwalk to town, as it has now raised $54,108. The goal is to connect the trail that extends from downtown to the city beach to the scenic gravel walkway on the banks of Long Lake with a floating boardwalk. Early estimates for the project, including engineering and easements, tallied about $500,000. The city is actively seeking grants to reduce the potion the city must raise.

DeWayne Schaefer presented the school board with easements for a road he plans to give the school district. The proposed road easements were presented to the Frazee-Vergas School Board Tuesday evening. No action was taken on the proposal at that meeting. Schaefer noted that the township would not maintain the road since it is a private road put in by Schaefer.
Superintendent Joe Merseth stated, “The road serves a great purpose for access to the ball-fields. Without it there would be no access to the ball-fields.” Merseth noted that Schaefer wants what’s best for the area and has always been willing to work with the school board. Merseth also noted that Schaefer made available to the school district 10 acres of land near the river. “We have saved about $30,000 by purchasing 10 acres,” said Merseth. The school has utilized fill from the acreage and science classes utilize the land for outdoor classrooms.
