Duane Asa Houghton was born December 13, 1931 in Frazee, Minnesota, the son of Lloyd and Elma (Wischnak) Houghton. He passed away November 30, 2021 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew up in the Vergas area. Duane proudly served his country in the U.S. Army receiving his honorable discharge in 1955.

On November 18, 1975, Duane was united in marriage to Judy McDonald at St. Paul’s Loon Lake Lutheran Church. They made their home on Duane’s farm in rural Vergas.  He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, Elk hunting trips and watching the Minnesota Twins.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and several great nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Elma Houghton; wife: Judy Houghton; siblings: George (Lucille) Houghton, Lillian (Adolph) Lang.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vergas. Visitation will be 1-hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial with Military Honors will be following the service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
