Kris Engle celebrated the birth of his second child, a son named Hank in August. A month after the celebratory news he received horrible news. “I was diagnosed with stage two cancer known as Hodgkin’s Lymphoma,” he said. “They said if you get cancer this is the one to get because it is curable.” He finished his chemo treatments at the Roger Maris Cancer Center in November and expects the results if the treatments did the job or not soon. A benefit is being planned at the Wolf Lake Lions Hall on December 10 to help with expenses incurred because of his illness.
Brett Stall is heading to Las Vegas for an invite-only bull riding competition. The 27-ear-old son of Vergas businesswoman and resident Sandee Stall and Bradley Stall, Detroit Lakes, received an invitation to compete in the Cinch Boyd Gaming Chute-Out at the Orleans Arena December 8-10. Brett was notified by e-mail that he was one of eight bull riders selected to compete n the event. The top prize is estimated at around $15,000.

The first ever Frazee Festival of Trees was so successful, it will be carried over to this weekend. This past weekend’s show was a huge success with about 500 people attending the event and over 55 trees were on display.
The Frazee City Council will hold a special meeting to discuss the salaries of the city employees. For 1996, raises of up to 18.6 percent were granted to city employees, with the average increase at 6.88 percent. No raises had been granted in 1995.
A benefit pancake and sausage feed for the Jim and Jill Rader family will be held December 8 at the Frazee High School. The Rader’s baby John, has undergone a colostomy and removal of one eye due to a malignant retinal blastoma. He was born October 1. The family has incurred numerous medical expenses.

The Frazee Drift-Riders Snowmobile Club held an organizational meeting for the season on Tuesday, November 30. The group voted to place the entire area around the Frazee Retirement center “off limits” to all snowmobiles, so the noise of machines will not bother the residents there. Snowmobilers living in Frazee desiring to travel to Town Lake are requested to travel on the west side of the tree line near the Retirement Center.
An outdoor Christmas lighting contest is being sponsored this season by the Frazee Jaycees. The area to be included is the village of Frazee and a five- mile radius. Those wishing to have their lighting display judged are asked to drop a postcard to Mr. Gary Krause, Frazee.
The Frazee Post Office will have window service until 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, which is the Santa Claus Day. This service will help meet the deadline of out of town cards.
