Earlier this year Seip Drug was notified the contract with the Frazee Care Center would not be renewed. However, residents who paid for medication were able to decide where they wanted prescriptions to be filled. Seip Drug Pharmacist Kayla Hendrickson reported all of the assisted living residents and a little more than half of the nursing home customers were retained. Residents of facility can change to the local pharmacy unless they are part of the skilled Medicare Part A. She explained the drugs for those residents are purchased through the care center, which contracted with Omnicare of Minnesota, which is based out of Brooklyn Center.
The Frazee City Council reviewed building plans for the proposed Dollar General Store during its monthly meeting Monday, April 10. The building plans show the 7,500-square-foot store will have an access point along Fourth Street Southwest. Fourth Street Southwest is currently gravel, as is the section of West Maple Avenue in front of where the retail store is to be located.
The Frazee City Council is ready to make noticeable improvements to the city’s municipal liquor store, the Third Crossing Bar. During the monthly council meeting Monday, April 10, Frazee Municipal Liquor Store Manager Tami Jo Hopwood was given the green light to continue investing in the facility. Funds for the upgrades, which will include improvements to the interior and exterior of the building, improving the off-sale shelving as well as remaining kitchen needs will be drawn from the overall liquor store account.

United Community Bank plans to break ground for its new Frazee branch facility at the end of April. Bank Vice President Bob Cavanagh said the new 2,925 square foot facility should be completed by October. More space and the need for drive-up banking prompted the plans for a new building, to be located on West Main Avenue near the VFW. The new bank will have a metal roof and steel siding with brick accent on the bottom. Besides, the addition of two drive-thru lanes, an ATM will be located in the lobby with 24-hour accessibility, Cavanagh said.
Relocation plans are underway for Frazee Auto Body. David and Karen Gray, Frazee, have finalized the purchase of the former wood products building, which was formerly owned by Harold Salminen of Lake Melissa. The building is located between the catholic church and Daggett Truck Line, on the frontage road by old Highway 10.
A manufacturing business should open in Frazee by July 1. Marine Innovations, Inc., a St. Paul-based manufacturer of lakeshore incline equipment, will be moving into the SkyLine Business Center in Frazee. The move will enable company owners Michael and Lori Botzet to make their presently part-time business a full-time operation, Lori said. Marine Innovations is in its sixth year of business.

The second annual Frazee School Earth Day has been set for next Wednesday, April 19 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.. The FHS Student Council with the help of the Rotary club are sponsoring Earth Day this year. On Earth Day the high school students will be released from their classes and placed into groups and assigned to clean up debris in a section of Frazee. The Rotary club is providing the trucks and drivers for this project. The student council will appreciate the help of local residents by being especially careful when driving on the highways and through town on that morning. The students are hoping for a warm, sunny day April 19.
A large turnout of Cub Scouts and their families enjoyed a roller skating Pack meeting at the 4-H Building in Perham on April 5. Professionals and amateurs all joined together for an evening of fun on wheels. A short pack meeting was held also during which awards were presented.
Calvin Berven, of Vergas has filed for re-election for a three-year term to the Frazee-Vergas School Board. Berven was elected to a three year term three years ago after completing the term of Roger Hanson who resigned at the time he was elected to the State Legislature.
The Frazee Firemen will hold their annual dance Friday night, April 14 at Spruce Grove Club. Music will be by Jimmy Jenson, a popular TV and recording orchestra. Tickets are $2 per person.
