Frazee posts 17 personal bests at indoor meet

Frazee posted 17 personal records as the Hornets returned indoors at the Beaver Relays on Tuesday. The event was held indoors at Bemidji State University and featured 18 teams. In addition to the personal bests, Frazee senior Rylee Moore took first place in three events including the 60-meter hurdles, high jump and triple jump. 

Her top finishes helped the Hornets take first place in the meet with a combined team score of 100 points. Fosston/Bagley took third place with a score of 74 and Wadena-Deer Creek was in third place with 68 points. 

With so many teams participating in the meet there were some events that featured nearly 80 competitors in the preliminaries. 

The Hornets dominated the 400-meter run at the meet as Frazee captured three of the top four places overall. Brynn Larson and Hailey Selly tied for first place in a photo finish as both Hornets finished with a personal best of 1:04.36. Kaidence Mayfield took fourth place with a personal best of 1:06.66. There were 54 people who competed in the event. 

In the 60-meter hurdles, Moore finished in front of the Pack with a time of 10.34. Olivia Petron finished in fifth place with a time of 10.77 and Kaidence Mayfield took sixth place with a time of 10.84.  

Moore, who is a senior, also captured first place in the high jump as she narrowly defeated Larson who took second place in the event with a personal best. Both jumpers finished with a jump of 5’.

Her third top finish came in the triple jump as she finished with a jump of 34’7”. Selly was right on her tail as the sophomore finished in third place with a jump of 32’8 1/2”. The jump was just half an inch short of second place. 

Elsie Ratz finished in second place in the 800-meter run by finishing with a time of 2:40.78, while Taylor Perrine took 12th place with a personal best time of 2:57.13. 

In the field events, Petron took fifth place in the long jump with a jump of 15’. A total of 55 people completed a jump in the event. 

The 4×200-meter relay team of Selly, Moore, Larson and Petron also captured second place after finishing with a time of 1:57.50. They were just 2 seconds off of the first place finishing team from Bagley-Fosston. 

Jayden Sonnenberg posted a pair of personal bests in the finals by finishing in 11th place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.71 and 11th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.34. A total of 78 people competed in the 60-meter dash.
