Elizabeth Lou “Betty” Neisen was born December 21, 1933, in Epiphany, South Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Edna (Malvitz) Kaufman. She passed away November 16, 2022 at Pelican Landing in Detroit Lakes.

Betty grew up in the Slayton area and met the love of her life, Clement Neisen in Carlos, Minnesota. She met Clem shocking grain and they were engaged on All Saint’s Day November 1, 1954. Betty and Clem were united in marriage April 12, 1955 in Belle River Church. To this union 5 children were born. They made their home in the Alexandria area before moving to the Frazee area.

Betty worked as a waitress, bank teller and bookkeeper at Dynamic Homes in Detroit Lakes. She owned and operated the Altona Diner in Vergas.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clem Neisen; children:  Dan Neisen, Dave (Torey) Neisen, Sandy Erickson, Greg (Sue Hollom) Neisen; grandchildren: Brice, Cassandra, Dustin (Brittney), Tiffany (Troy), Jessica, Heather (Erik), Angie, Dumitru Daniel, Derek (Hannah), Dylan, Katie (Steven). Great grandchildren: Ella, Grace, Ben, Evan, Oliver, Harvey, Clarity, Opus. Siblings: Duane Kaufman, Frank Kaufman, Char Marquette, Janet Van Horn; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her Parents: Joseph and Edna Kaufman; son: John Neisen; son -in-law: Brian Erickson; siblings: Sharon Kulhy, Mary Steinment.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee with visitation one-hour prior to the service.  Evening Visitation will be Friday, November 18 from 5 to 7:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Knights of Columbus Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00PM.  Arrangements with the Furey Funeral Home www.FureyFH.com
