Betty Sweere (95) passed away on October 3, 2022, just 2 days shy of her 96th birthday, at the Hadley House Assisted Living Home in Perham, MN where she had resided since 2020. Betty Jean Gleason was born on October 5, 1926, in Steele County, North Dakota, the second child of John and Betsy (Sampson) Gleason.

Betty grew up on a farm near Finley, ND with one brother and 6 sisters. She was united in marriage to Harold (Bud) Sweere on April 22, 1948. Together they raised a family of ten children while farming in rural Frazee until moving to Perham in 1979. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, in 2002, her parents John and Betsy Gleason, brother John “Buddy” Gleason, and sisters Elvina Mickelson and Gladys Thul.

Betty is survived by her children, Roger (Bonnie) Sweere, Perham, MN, Marcy (Fred) Schmidt, Fargo, ND, Shirley (Norm Schultz), Vergas, MN, Gary (Deb) Sweere, Beaver Creek, OH, Judy Richter, Richville, MN, Tom Sweere, Perham, MN, Bruce (Deb) Sweere, Perham, MN, Steve (Linda) Sweere, Perham, MN, Jan Sweere, Fargo, ND, and Audrey (Eric) Beauchesne, Fargo, ND. Betty is also survived by sisters, Donna Cole, Santa Rosa, CA, Ruth Gullicks, Fargo, ND, Darlene Saxerud, Fargo, ND, and Margie Glyten, Billings, MT, and sister-in-law Bernice Anderson, New York Mills, MN as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family of Betty Sweere thanks the staff of the Hadley House Assisted Living and Knute Nelson Hospice of Alexandria, MN for the commitment, dedication and excellent care and support they provided to our mother.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 and a rosary at 6:30 on Thursday, November 3 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service. Inurnment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Perham.
