Delores Eckre, age 90, passed away February 25, 2022 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Delores Jacqueline (Erickson) Eckre was born April 20, 1931, in Hobart Twp., Otter Tail County, MN to John and Mable (Urbach) Erickson. Delores grew up in the Vergas, MN, area where she attended country school through the 8th grade, going on to attend Frazee High School, class of 1949.

Delores married Gordon Eckre on October 30, 1948, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Loon Lake in Vergas. The couple resided in Vergas for two years, then purchased a farm near Frazee in 1950, where they raised 5 children: Diane, Larry, Gail, Karen and Janine. Delores was a very active mother and participated as a 4-H leader for 40 plus years.  In 1979, she joined the ladies auxiliary and later served on St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Evergreen Ladie’s Aide, and served on the Becker County Council on Aging, and the extension committee for more than 10 years.   Delores volunteered at the Frazee High School, Frazee Care Center and was very involved in her church, serving as Sunday school teacher, bible school teacher and release time teacher.  She and Gordon also served as foster parents for a number of children over the years.

Delores enjoyed sewing and made lap robes for the ladies auxiliary, and also liked to knit, crochet and learn other difficult needlework as she enjoyed the challenge it presented. Delores and Gordon also raised and sold raspberries and strawberries for a number of years.

Gordon passed away January 27, 2008. Delores moved from the family farm in 2007, though the farm remains in the family.

Delores is survived by 4 children: Diane (Wayne) Nichols of Moorhead, MN, Larry Eckre of Detroit Lakes, MN, Karen (John) Aho of Wolf Lake, MN and Janine Trappe of Vergas, MN; 2 sisters: Corinne Munson of Long Prairie, MN and Bonnie (David) Brown of Goodridge, MN, along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Delores in death were her parents; husband, Gordon; son, Gail Eckre, 2 brothers: Kenneth and Gary Erickson; in-laws: Edwin Munson, Tina (Rudolph) Kratzke, Olga (Andreen) Johnson, Elsie (Fred) Kratzke and Glene (Butch) Kratzke; along with several nieces and nephews.
