0Gail Rika Schave was born to Eldor and Helen (Mueller) Schave on April 10, 1939 in Perham, MN. She was baptized on May 21, 1939 and confirmed on May 25, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Evergreen. Her confirmation verse was John 8:31-32 “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed, and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Gail went to country school at District 242 in Corliss Township and graduated from Perham High School as valedictorian of her class. She married Wayne Leonard Quittschreiber on May 23, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Evergreen. They farmed in Evergreen and Corliss Townships for many years. Gail served on the Evergreen Town Board, Becker County Association of Townships Board, Becker County DHIA Board, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Board, Lake Park & Cuba Insurance Co. Board, and the Perham Hospital District Board; usually holding the office of Treasurer. She worked several years at the offices of Attorney Peter Irvine and CPA Larry Larson. After she and Wayne quit farming, she worked at Lake Park & Cuba Insurance Co. for ten years.
Surviving Gail are her husband Wayne; children Rika Quittschreiber of Detroit Lakes, MN, Lynn (Lyle) Galbrecht of Frazee, MN, and Gary Quittschreiber of Dilworth, MN; her four grandchildren Kurtis (Sarah) Galbrecht of Moorhead, MN, Kody (Megan) Galbrecht of Perham, Drew (Sheena Bromeling) Quittschreiber of Perham, and Tasha (Adam) Schmitz of Perham; her great-grandchildren Hunter Galbrecht, Hallie Galbrecht, Harley Quittschreiber, Bailey Quittschreiber, and Parker Quittschreiber; step-great-grandchildren Kelvin Shea and Kennedy Stevenson; her brothers Noel (Ramona) Schave and Merl Schave; her sister Nancy (Darrell) Wick; brother-in-law Roger (DeeAnn) Quittschreiber; sister-in-law Mavis (Arlen) Huwe; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gail in death were her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; her brother-in-law Jerry Quittschreiber; sister-in-law Judy Quittschreiber; sister-in-law Karen Schave; sister-in-law Yvonne Schave; and nephews Mark Quittschreiber and Scott Schave.
Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evergreen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Gail’s family. The family will then be making donations to charities and organizations of the family’s choice.
