James “Jim” Michael Kyte, age 80, passed away peacefully in his home on September 30, 2025. Jim lived in Detroit Lakes, MN when he was born on August 28, 1946 to James Emmett and Mae (Engle) Kyte. His family moved to Frazee, MN in 1958 where he graduated from Frazee High School. Soon after that, Jim met his wife Carolyn and had two children, Kristi and Casey. They moved to Perham in 1968 where Jim worked for the Perham Police Department for 25 years. He retired in 1996 but continued his lifelong job of painting houses.

Jim’s love for hunting and fishing took him on many hunting trips with family and friends, where he was always on the hunt for that unique or large animal or fish to display in his “Trophy” room in their home. If he was not fishing or hunting you would find Jim at the Lakes Cafe with his coffee buddies.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mae Kyte, his brother, Richard Lee Kyte, and sister Judith Anne Raye.

Jim will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Carolyn, his daughter Kristi (Brad) Strong, his son Casey Kyte, his granddaughters Lola and Stella Strong, his grandson Easton Kyte, his sisters Sue (Jerry) Swanson, Vicki Boedigheimer and Robbie (Allan) Schoenberger, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham.
