Janet Scott, 76, of Alexandria, MN, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Janet Faye was born on March 8, 1947 in Valley City, ND to Otto and Lucille (Thilmony) Moe. Janet grew up in Vergas, MN and graduated from Frazee High School in 1964. She moved to Lakeville, MN after high school where she worked for Barnes & Noble doing data entry. While in Lakeville, she met the love of her life, Earl. Janet and Earl married in May of 1968. They were blessed with five children: Adam, Linda, Darcie, Kathy, and Kerry.

Janet and Earl bought their first house in Bloomington, MN in 1970. They moved to Barnesville, MN in 1977 where Janet started her CNA career. Then in 1993, Janet and Earl moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where Janet worked for St. Mary’s for 17 years.

She retired in 2012 and moved to Alexandria in 2019. As a young girl, Janet fell in love with nature. She enjoyed learning about all the different kinds of animals and flowers. This carried into her adult life. She had the most beautiful flower gardens. Over the years, Janet had numerous pets. Janet loved spending time with her family, either at holidays, reunions, family trips, etc.

Janet is survived by her children: Linda Goodman, Alexandria, MN, Kathy (Rob) Willson, Tallmadge, OH, Darcie Scott, Mountain Home, AR, Kerry (Dave) Ingberg, Vergas, MN, sisters: Betty (George) Bertram, Balsam Lake, WI, Mary Bennett, Frazee, MN, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Otto and Lucille Moe, husband, Earl Scott, brothers: Maynard Moe, Merlyn Moe, Myron Moe, Marvin Moe, and son, Adam Ziegler.

Visitation: 10AM – 11AM, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.

Memorial Service: 11AM, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at David-Donehower Funeral Home with Pastor Megan Clapp to officiate

Inurnment: Vergas City Cemetery, Vergas, MN.
