0Marcella Mae (Borth) Paurus was born on May 14, 1931. She passed away on January 16, 2022, at the young age of 90.
Marcella graduated from Frazee High School in the class of 1950.
On August 26, 1950, Marcella married the love of her life Clarence Paurus. They made their home on the farm near Wolf Lake, MN. There were four children born to this union three boys and one girl.
Marcella worked as a teacher’s aide at the school in Wolf Lake, MN. She also taught Sunday school at church for several years. Her and Clarence managed the Wolf Lake Liquor store for many years. She also worked at the swift turkey plant both in Frazee and Detroit Lakes.
Marcella will always be known around the countryside for her potato salad. And for Christmas her glorified rice and her ice box dessert. She loved to cook and bake; she would always make enough to feed an army. She always had coffee and goodies when you stopped by.
Marcella always had to have the yard just perfect. No leaves or sticks could be on the yard. She loved to have her yard and her flowers looking the best. She always had a few rules to follow, like take shoes off at the door, keep floors clean, and make sure not to get mud on her driveway.
Marcella is survived by her husband of 71 years Clarence Paurus. Three sons: Nolan (Betty) Paurus of Wolf Lake, Byron (Sally) Paurus of Wolf Lake, Terry Paurus of Wolf Lake, and one daughter Sherri (William) Schaefer of Wadena, MN.
There are thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Marie Borth, Her In-Laws William and Hilda Paurus, Daughter in-law Judy Paurus, a grandson Jamie Ray Paurus, brother Alvin Borth, and nephew Wayne Borth.
The family is requiring masks be worn.
Services for Marcella will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake. Public Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Reception will be held at the Lion’s Hall in Wolf Lake following the service.
Burial will be held in May 2022.
