Michael (Mike) Hofer, Jr., age 90, of Frazee, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Mike was born on February 15, 1935, to the late Michael and Cora (Pettit) Hofer in Fargo, North Dakota. Mike grew up in Frazee, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Mike will be laid to rest at Fargo National Cemetery beside his wife, Lois.
On September 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Lois Rose Brekke at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They had 8 children. They made their home in rural Frazee, MN. Mike worked at a chevy dealership in Minneapolis, a hog barn in Perham, and he drove truck. He also was a farmer who milked cows for 24 years then got out of milking and went to beef cattle. He was an active member and former commander in the VFW in Frazee, MN. Mike was drafted into the US Air Force to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mike is survived by his children; Teresa (Mike) Wallace of Lastrup, MN, Lynn (Scott) Rennecke of Hawley, MN, Bruce (Sandy) Hofer of Frazee, MN, and Shane Hofer, of Pleasant Hill, IA; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Meg Balvitsch and Gloria (Dick) Dorow; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mike is preceded in death by his children, Tim, Mike, Marty, and Rita Hofer; grandson, Austin Hofer; and brothers, Patrick and Andy Hofer. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers-in-law, and 4 sisters-in-law.
