Phyllis Yvonne (Soland) Leitheiser, 85, of Detroit Lakes passed away, August 22, 2021.

Visitation will be held at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes Thursday, August 26, 5:00-7:00 p.m. with prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Dan Abrahams and burial after the service followed by lunch at Zion.

Phyllis was born to Alvin (Ole) and Lucille (Lachowitzer) Soland on December 1, 1935, at her aunt Ella’s house in Vergas, MN.

Her first job was at Nash Finch where she worked as a bookkeeper. She also worked at the Detroit Lakes Tribune at the front desk. Later, she worked at SJE Rhombus and also served as a pastoral care volunteer for over 20 years at Oak Crossing Nursing Home. Finally, she served as the first female treasurer of Erie Township for 20 years.

Phyllis was married on June 7, 1955 to the love of her life, James Leitheiser. They were married for over 57 years. During this time they owned and operated Evergreen Mink Ranch.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents Alvin (Ole) and Lucille Soland; brother Wenzel (Florence) Soland; sister-in-law Betty (Don) Becotte; brother-in-law Thomas Leitheiser.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Doug (Sheri) Leitheiser, Mark (Mary) Leitheiser, Jane (Walt) Kozitka, Wayne (Sara) Leitheiser, grandchildren: Candace Leitheiser (Robert Korn), Nikki (Eric) Lukkarinen, Cara Leitheiser, Emily (Andy) Walker, Cade & Claire Leitheiser, Alysa (Corey) Thompson, Justin Leitheiser, Megan Washek, Danielle Leitheiser, Jordan Washek, great-grandchildren: Anya & Asher Lukkarinen, Lucy Walker, Rayne, Jayden, Asher, Paisley & Logan Thompson and Hallie Cossette, sisters-in-law: Pat (Virgil) Mastin and Marilyn Leitheiser.
