0Randolph M. “Randy” Aho age 63 of Wolf Lake, MN died May 22, 2021 at his residence. Randy’s death was exactly as he would have written it. He always said, “I was born in this house and I want to die in it,” and that’s what he did.
Randy loved his family and was very proud of his two sons and daughter. He also liked to brag about what he called his “successful sisters.” Randy had a heart of gold and would have given someone his last dime if they asked for it, and many times he did just that. Randy never backed down from a good debate. He wouldn’t argue, but he sure loved to discuss.
Randy hung drywall all his life. A tough job, but he loved it. In the last few years, because of his health he couldn’t work, he decided that he wanted to become a hermit, which he did. He was perfectly happy being at home and reading, which he did constantly. He would read anything from the back of a cereal box to Hemingway. He is the only person I know who read War and Peace. Randy had a wonderful sense of humor. Life wasn’t made to be taken seriously. He could find the humor in the worst situation and make you laugh.
He is survived by his significant other, Vernette Gilbertson (The Boss); two sons, Jason (Cindy) Aho; and Jesse (Amber) Aho; one daughter, Jenna Aho; grandchildren, Emily, Allison, Evan, and adopted granddaughter, Lily Loch; three sisters, Rhonda (Dave) Eckert; Lynnae (Woody) Fredrickson; and Lana Aho; his mother, Ruby Aho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Aho.
Per Randy’s wishes, a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday June 26, 2021 starting at 3:00 pm at the Wolf Lake Liquor Store. Come and share your favorite “Randy” story!
