0Ronald Dale Hamm, age 68, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ronald was born December 22, 1954 in Hibbing, MN to Daisy (Stodgell) and Stanley Hamm. Ronald spent his childhood years living on the family farm in Keewatin, MN and later moved with the family to the farm in Detroit Lakes. Ronald went to school in Detroit Lakes until he was 16, at which time he began farming and driving truck.
He met the love of his life in 1974, and after just a few months of dating Ronald would marry Mary on November 2, 1974. In 1983 Ronald and Mary settled in their current home in Frazee, MN. In his younger years Ronald could be found cruising around in his muscle cars and riding motorcycles. He worked numerous mechanic jobs until he was involved in a work accident which nearly took his life. The accident didn’t prevent Ronald from continuing to work and doing what he loved, which was helping others.
If you ask his friends, they will assure you that Ronald could fix anything. He was always on the go and helping others, fixing tractors, doing cat work, hauling items to the auctions, attending auctions, creating metal art, gardening, and spending lots of time with family. Ronald also loved his pets and often took them on car rides. He was an avid hunter and loved ice fishing and spearing. Ronald was an excellent decoy carver, he was often an award winner for his creations, and an active member of the National Fish Decoy Association. Ronald shared his talents and passion for decoys with surrounding schools teaching youth how to carve decoys.
In the winter Ronald would spend days plowing snow out of driveways for friends and neighbors in his iconic big red truck. Ronald loved family, and most of all, he loved Mary. Ronald would be sure to get Mary flowers for special occasions and take her on regular dinner dates and care for her no matter what. Ronald will be forever missed by friends and family for his humor, kind heart, and his selflessness.
