Wilhelm “Willi” Humbeck, 90, of Detroit Lakes, MN died on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Essentia Health of Fargo, ND.

On a beautiful winter’s day, December 16, 1933, Wilhelm “Willi” Humbeck was born. Willi was born the son of Ernest and Maria (Klinkhammer) Humbeck in the town of EssenStelle, Germany.

When Willi was six, Hitler came into power and at age 15, Willi started working in the coal mines to help provide for his family while his father was away at war. When he was 17 he decided to go back to school and that was where he met the love of his life and future wife, Margot. Willi and Margot married in 1953 and soon after, welcomed their son, Michael, into the world. In 1957, Willi’s sister married an American and moved to the Twin Cities, MN and in 1965, Willi and his family followed. Willi and his family moved to the Detroit Lakes/Frazee area in 1974 where he started his own Janitorial Supply Company. They lived a charmed life until her stroke in 2011 and passed away in 2019.

Willi leaves behind his son, Michael (Terri) and his grandson, Christopher.

Memorial Mass: 9AM, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Frazee, MN.
