Notes from the Chief
Notes from the Chief…Winter has arrived. Last Tuesday was the first whopper of a snow storm. There were not too many incidents in town, but the outlying areas definitely had some traffic issues with vehicles off the road.
Larry told me that the roads that had not been driven on were plowing very nicely whereas the roads with traffic already had ice build up underneath. Here is another reminder to please alternate your parking on the street to allow the city crew to clean the streets in an orderly manner.
There is a 24-hour parking ordinance in the city that will be enforced if your vehicles do not move to allow for street cleaning. In the several past winters, Frazee has had the best looking streets in the area.
This is without winter parking restrictions like other towns have. Some towns have no parking at all on city streets in the winter, others have parking on one side on even numbered days and the other side on odd numbered days.
I don’t want to have to go to those lengths with new parking ordinances so please continue to move your vehicles in a timely manner. I know for a fact that the city guys will bury a vehicle with snow that has been parked for too long of a time. It happened to my pickup one time. Funny funny on the city crew that morning. Luckily I was able to lock in the 4×4 and drive out.
Also a reminder that there is no parking on Main Avenue and Lake Street North in the downtown area from 2-6 a.m. This is to allow the city crew to keep our downtown business section roads and sidewalks safe and clean for business owners and customers.
