Notes from the Chief

Friday Aug. 21

8:50 p.m. Talk with a homeowner about a camper in his front yard.

Saturday Aug. 22

12:35 a.m. Report of a disturbance between a male and female with the male not allowing the female to leave. Officer knew of the situation between the male and female and saw that the male was trying to intimidate the female. Officer intervened, told the male to kick rocks and provided a ride home for the female.

Monday Aug. 24

11:15 a.m. Reporting party found some two-liter bottles in the lake that had fishing lines attached. Information passed onto the DNR.

2:03 p.m. Background check for transient merchant license.

4:55 p.m. Background check for landlord.

5:40 p.m. Suspicious vehicle at the campground that was using the porta potty. Couple in the vehicle were homeless and given suggestions of some places that may help.

Tuesday Aug. 25

12:52 p.m. Report of a runaway juvenile from DL is in town at an address.  

2:42 p.m. Assist with a medical.

7:01 p.m. Report of the juvenile runaway at another address. Unable to locate.

Wednesday Aug. 26

6:34 a.m. Report of an ATV that had been pushed out of a yard onto the roadway. DNA sample taken and officer helped get it back home.

8:24 a.m. Resident reporting damage to a fish house in their backyard. A juvenile male was caught on a camera. Evidence gathered.

10:06 a.m. Resident reporting another ATV being pushed out of the yard. ATV swabbed for DNA.

1:11 p.m. Resident reporting a third ATV being tampered with. Evidence collected. We have a suspect on the ATV calls and will be waiting on DNA processing from the Minnesota BCA.

2:12 p.m. Company calling to report they had a vehicle to repossess in town.

2:45 p.m. Resident reporting a missing lawn chair. Lawn chair was found damaged by the fish house earlier in the day.

3:05 p.m. Resident reporting a phone call that started from Walmart about a phone purchase that turned into the Social Security Office and finally the US Marshall’s office about a vehicle that had been rented and ended up in Mexico. No personal information given out although the caller seemed to have all of the reporting party’s information already.

7:38 p.m. Resident reporting the theft of a walk behind string trimmer.

8:57 p.m. Driving complaint on young adult male in a loud vehicle.

9:11 p.m. Driving complaint on US Hwy 10 that came into town. Officer found the vehicle in town and no signs of impairment.

Thursday Aug. 27

10:17 a.m. Business owner reporting that their window air conditioner had been tampered with.  

1:25 p.m. Officer located juvenile runaway from DL earlier in the week. Officer brought the juvenile to DLPD and he was transported to a juvenile facility.

4:19 p.m. Resident reporting damage to freshly poured concrete from the new city construction. Officer talked with neighbor kids and their parents. One child denied walking on the fresh concrete but the other one ratted her out.  

5:32 p.m. Traffic stop with warning for failing to transfer motor vehicle registration from another state.

5:54 p.m. Report of an adult female who was feeling down in the dumps. Officer and deputy talked with female and were able to get her a ride to the ER for an evaluation.

7:39 p.m. Report of a wrong way driver on US Hwy 10. Unable to locate, vehicle most likely corrected.

10:06 p.m. Report of some kids running around after curfew. Officer did not locate the kids. They may have been home already as the mother who was at work told the kids she was calling the PoPo.
