Notes from the Chief
Notes from the Chief…Well, I think it is safe to say that winter is finally here. That little snow before Thanksgiving caught us all by surprise I would say. I think it is safe to put the plow on the pickup although we haven’t moved much snow in the farmyard yet, but by the time you read this I’m sure we will have.
With the cold weather, please plan your travel accordingly. Let someone know where you are going and when you will return, especially if the weather is deteriorating. With normal daily travel, it may not be as important. Make sure your vehicle is in proper operating condition with fluid levels where they are supposed to be. Make sure that you change out the summer air in your tires for winter air. This will give you better traction in the snow and ice. You will also have to change your blinker fluid to a winter brand, so it does not freeze. Any mechanic shop will be able to help you with these winter upgrades.
Dressing appropriately for the weather helps too. A winter cap along with gloves can go a long way in keeping you warm. I still remember Mr. Beeck in seventh grade science told the class, “If your hands are cold, put on a hat.” The body will not have to work as hard to pump blood to keep your brain warm, it will be able to pump that blood to your extremities.
