At different times in life, especially low moments, we might ask the question, do I matter?  Is there anyone who cares about me?  Do I have a purpose?

We’ll come back those questions in a moment.

There’s a set of scriptures that has always intrigued me. Jesus spoke them in Matthew 13:44-46:  “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

What was so valuable that this treasure hunter sold all he had to buy the field, or the merchant who gave it all so he could have the one pearl?

People for 2000 years now have been ‘tasting and seeing’ the love, joy, grace, peace, and power that comes from God’s kingdom. Millions have given time, treasure, and life to be a part of it.

And while Jesus’s Kingdom can be seen in many ways; here’s probably the greatest glimpse we can see: God gave what was most precious to Him; to purchase you. He gave up his absolute best treasure to find you and purchase you. Jesus paid for you with his own life.

Should you ever feel like you don’t matter, or that you aren’t valuable; consider the absolutely amazing truth that God values you so much that He gave His best for you. You Matter.
