Notes from the Chief
Notes from the Farm…Well, I will have to say that the snowstorm last Thursday was nothing less than a disappointment. The snow accumulation Thursday morning was 3-4” I would say. That is just enough to have to plow it, but such a small amount of snow that it is kind of a pain in the arse.
We will see what Friday morning brings, most likely about the same amount. As I am typing later Thursday evening, it seems that the snow has stopped. Parking lots and St. Hwy 87 look very nice after the plows have done some work.
There was a slight breakdown a couple of weeks ago. The Oliver 66’s water pump decided to spring a leak. Guess that isn’t so bad for being close to 70 years old, I’m pretty sure it was the original pump. That’s about like my dad, he needed a replacement part on his pump (heart) when he was that age.
The new water pump arrived, and it wasn’t too bad to get back in. The 66 is the tractor we use daily to feed the cows silage in the wintertime. Tire chains help pull the feeder wagon to the winter pasture. I also have an enclosure on the tractor to help break the wind. I’ll let the tractor break the wind because if I have to break the wind, it might not be that pleasant.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas!
