Notes from the Chief

Friday July 24

1:19 p.m. Fender bender involving a parked vehicle.

2:40 p.m. Resident calling with questions about some cheap costume jewelry she has that is supposed to go to her husband’s ex-wife. The person who the jewelry belongs to is in the female big house in Shakopee serving time. Female wanted to know what to do with the jewelry and it was relayed that her husband should set up the exchange if the ex-wife really wants the stuff.

3:24 p.m. 911 hang-up in Wannigan Park. Pocket dial. All ok.

5:20 p.m. Another 911 hang-up. Pocket dial again.

11:59 p.m. Report of a fight at the liquor store. Willam Crane, 34, Audubon cited for Disorderly Conduct.

Saturday July 25

8:43 a.m. Parking complaint with a pickup parked in the roadway.

11:35 a.m. Parking complaint with a vehicle in the way of the soap box derby on Main Ave W.

11:37 a.m. Assist with a medical.

1:39 p.m. Questions answered about parking a semi near the parade starting point.

4:31 p.m. Female calling to report a lost wallet.

5:47 p.m. Traffic stop of two motorcycles heading to the beach on a hot afternoon. One cycle was driven by a 10-yr old boy. Warning to dad for allowing illegal operation, no license, no registration, no lights, no helmet. Dad accepted responsibility.

8:38 p.m. 911 hang-up on Cedar Ave W. All ok, kids were playing with the phone.

8:50 p.m. Officer found several Jr. High age boys at the elementary who were throwing the landscaping rocks in the parking lot. Officer had the boys play 52-pickup with the rocks and talked with them about making better choices.

Sunday July 26

1:07 p.m. Gave intoxicated male a ride home.

1:34 a.m. Gave another intoxicated male a ride home.

12:27 p.m. Report of someone trespassing on private property.  

12:40 p.m. Cell phone was found near the gazebo park and turned in. Phone was claimed a few hours later.

12:46 p.m. Female requesting a call to ask questions about being harassed by her ex’s new girlfriend. Information given on options and obtaining a restraining order.

2:57 p.m. Assist with the Turkey Days Parade.

7:16 p.m. Report of an open door at a business. Those associated with the business were having a couple of cold ones to wind down the weekend and said they would take care of the issue.

8:24 p.m. City ordinance violation for public nuisance of a property on Cherry Avenue.  Letter was hand delivered ordering the property be cleaned up or the matter would go to the city council for possible abatement.

Monday July 27

6:53 a.m. Assist with a disturbance in DL.

7:52 a.m. Traffic stop with warning for speeding.

12:10 p.m. Resident came to the PD asking about trespassing a male from the property.  Form was filled out and male was served the notice a couple days later.

12:19 p.m. Background request for a law enforcement academy.

12:37 p.m. Report of people trespassing on private property along the Otter Tail River.

12:38 p.m. Welfare on a female. Female was ok.

10:16 p.m. Officer found several juvenile females at the elementary playground. Officer informed then of the curfew hours and sent them on their way.

Tuesday July 28

4:37 p.m. Welfare check requested by a mailman as the mail has not been picked for some time. Resident was ok, just working out of town.

Wednesday July 29

12:57 a.m. Assist with a medical.

9:49 a.m. Resident requesting officer check on a dog in her neighborhood. Dog was ok per officer.

3:59 p.m. Two background checks for employment.

5:19 p.m. Assist with meeting with building inspector and property owner talking about options for the house and land.

7:39 p.m. Homeowner reporting a water leak in his yard. Turned out to be an old water line from the house to the garden.

8:12 p.m. Report of an almost head-on collision due to rubbish in the street. Officer talked with property caretaker and told him that any rubbish in the street would be crushed and hauled away by the city crew.

Thursday July 30 

7:55 a.m. Traffic stop with warning for speeding.

12:56 p.m. Report of a young man on a scooter going door-to-door in the Eagle Lake Area selling Terminix insect repellant packages for your house. The young man was also in the Red Willow area a while later, then farther out in the country. Officer talked with the young man and determined that the sales pitch was legitimate. Officer also informed the salesman that he needed a permit to solicit door-to-door in the city of Frazee.

5:12 p.m. Background check for a different transient license than above.

7:22 p.m. Letter drafted and delivered ordering the cleaning of another property on Cherry Avenue with council action and abatement possible.

7:25 p.m. Letter sent to property owner requesting the grass and weeds be taken care of otherwise the city will mow at the owners expense.

Friday, July 31

9:59 a.m. Vehicle unlock on St Hwy 87.

2:25 p.m. Business reporting theft by an employee. Under investigation.

6:07 p.m. Report of a suspicious pickup behind an apartment building. Pickup owner is dating someone who lives in the building.

7:19 p.m. Report of a suspicious male on Main Ave E and also St Hwy 87. Male lives in town and was given a ride home. 

9:32 p.m. Report of a radio that was found near a business. Radio was returned to the business.

Saturday, Aug. 1

1:01 a.m. Report of loud music from a garage. Officer stopped by and they turned the music down when told to do so. Officer had to return about 30 minutes later and the party was moved inside.

3 p.m. Report of an elderly male walking on Co Hwy 10. Male is familiar to the PD as he lives nearby and is always out walking. All ok.

7:17 p.m. Assist with a medical.

9:08 p.m. Report of a vehicle with several young males hanging out of the windows and they were yelling and swearing as they drove by the caller. Unable to locate.

Sunday, Aug. 2

1 a.m. Suspicious activity with two tents set up at the campground. 

1:02 a.m. Welfare check on a female who was possibly walking around intoxicated in town. Female returned home later in the morning.

3:53 p.m. Resident reporting that a drunk female party had come into his house last night about 2 a.m..  

4:47 p.m. Officer watched three kids walking on Lake St when one of them picked up a traffic cone and dropped it across the street. Officer made him return the cone.

5:16 p.m. Another resident reporting that a drunk female came into his house about 2:30 a.m.

6:21 p.m. Female came to the PD because she was in an argument about the way she was acting the previous morning and that she had lost her phone.

Monday, Aug. 3

2:04 p.m. Assist another agency with a background check for a permit to carry.

2:38 p.m. Caller reporting that he purchased some Pokemon cards and had not received them yet.

3:55 p.m. Report of a minor fender bender that happened on Friday night.

8:55 p.m. Assist with the report of a funnel cloud east of town.

Tuesday, Aug. 4

9:40 p.m. Assist with a medical.

2:59 p.m. Report of crash detection of a cell phone.  UTL

3:24 p.m. Caller reporting possible fraud as some door-to-door salesman had not returned like they said they would.

7:42 p.m. Vehicle repossession, info only for the PD.

8:19 p.m. Noise complaint on Lake St S.

8:50 p.m. Report that a male party who has lived at a property was on his way to get some belongings. 

Wednesday, Aug. 5

9:16 a.m. Report of possible theft of prescription pills. More than likely misplaced.

10:15 a.m. Alarm at the elementary school. False alarm.

11:50 p.m. Officer gave a female a ride home as her kids had the car.

9:40 p.m. City ordinance violation letter for public nuisance delivered to a property.
