Notes from the Chief

Notes from the Farm…The total is 48 calves on the ground for the year. I don’t believe there were any huge hiccups the past week with calving. We plan to separate the cows with calves into a different pasture so it will be easier to spot the new born calves.

Right now it looks like a daycare run amok with the number of babies running around.

By the time the paper comes out we may have started planting corn.

The ground temp should be 50 degrees or higher for proper germination. This year we are trying some full no till planting which will help with the soil health and hopefully won’t put a dent in the yield too much. It will also save on extra trips across the field working the soil.

With high fuel prices this spring, it will also save a few dollars in the piggy bank. Other than that, not a whole lot going on at the farm.

Have a nice week!
