To the Editor,

I hope you will join me this Veterans Day in a quiet moment of thanks and remembrance for the men and women who make it possible for us to live in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. These servicemen, women, and their families are heroes and are deserving of our deepest respect and gratitude.

Many veterans and their families have endured extreme hardships in their efforts to protect the freedoms we hold dear. As a result, some bear physical, visible scars; others carry invisible scars. Let’s take the time to honor them. And, I urge you to take a second to give back to those who give the most.

Finally, please be sure to take time to attend one of the many local Veterans Day events in the area.

I have been fortunate to participate in and attend numerous Veterans Day programs and activities around the area over the years. I am always impressed and amazed by the work of so many veterans’ organizations and other volunteers to make sure that we never forget the sacrifices made by so many soldiers and families.

Thank you to those who have served.
