Soap opera at the Dollar General

Notes from the Chief

Notes from the Farm…Well, I’m finally back. We unfortunately lost a wonderful young man in our lives so that put me out of work for a couple weeks.

Last count you had was one calf on the ground. Our calving season officially started on April 17, a few days before the April 20 due date. We lost one calf right away but were able to work out a deal with a neighbor who had an orphan calf. We also have a set of twins doing well.

Calves on the ground as of press time are 24 for the year. We had two different days with four calves. Our ratio is 16 bulls and eight heifers, very likable numbers to start the season.

There will be more stories to come, but I must close out this report as it is time to get ready for my mom’s funeral service on Friday, April 24. Mom and dad bought a golf cart last summer and she could not wait to take it for a spin this year. We are planning to give her one more ride this morning at the cemetery.

Have a nice week!
