I don’t know if I have ever felt as short as I did the other week when I was standing on the court and watching the Frazee boys basketball team warming up. Now, I have never been delusional enough to think I was tall, but at 6’0” I am not exactly short either. I don’t know if there were more than a couple of basketball players that I was actually taller than, and I really started to question if my family members were right in joking that I am shrinking.

All joking aside, I am glad to see we have made it through the month of January and winter sports are still going strong. There haven’t been any, or more than a few, cancellations due to COVID-19 concerns. It’s quite a change from the fall when games were being canceled frequently due to contact tracing and COVID-19 outbreaks on athletic teams.

I hope this column doesn’t jinx us and find ourselves with a repeat of last fall, but even if we do, it is nice to have the different athletic teams back on the court. To be honest, there was something missing this fall when the sports season came to an abrupt end without an expansive playoffs, and I hope that won’t take place again this winter.

Sports are more important than ever for our student-athletes as it provides them a reprieve and sense of normalcy in our crazy world with COVID-19. We hope we can continue our transition back to doing what it is we love, without having to live in our basement.

Hopefully we will be able to have more community events and celebrations this summer, even though they may still look a little different than they did in 2019. I, for one, really missed all the parades and gatherings. Fingers crossed, they will be making a return in 2021.

New website

We are now in our third week of our new website at the www.frazeeforum.com. We know there has been some issues with log in names and passwords during the transition process and we thank you for your patience. We hope you like the new website and design.

Please let us know what you think and if there are things you would like to see added to the website. We are trying to make the website an arm of the print and e-edition, so if there is something we can improve upon please let us know.

We hope a lot of the kinks are beginning to work themselves out, but if you have problems logging into your account please don’t hesitate to call us at 334-3566 for assistance.
